About Us
Thanks for dropping by the Registry. I'm Jimmy, the unofficial voice of this here outfit. We are a small group of Gatcomb enthusiasts located in Maine. L.B. Gatcomb has a proud place in our family tree, and as such we try to compile information and photos to offer the public, free of charge. We are proudly affiliated with Gatcomb Co. of Maine, a small part-time luthiery shop that crafts custom stringed instruments for those seeking something just a little bit different.
Gatcomb Co. became inundated with requests for information about L.B. Gatcomb and his instruments, and so in 2011 we offered to put up this small web page to collect serial numbers, manufacturing dates, information, and other items that might be of interest to owners of Gatcomb banjos, or anyone else with an interest in the subject. We have been collecting and archiving information for close to 17 years, and we have (slowly) been able to upload the information to The Gatcomb Banjo Registry.
And it's been a fun ride. We have made contacts all over the country, and we have been able to speak with some of the most enthusiastic banjo players and collectors in the USA. We receive new mail each week and it's always a delight to read the emails and browse through the accompanying photos.
So that's a little about us. Again, we enjoy hearing from you. Whether you've got a question about your banjo, information that would interest us, an old Gazette to sell, or you just want to talk music, drop us a line and introduce yourself. You already know me.
