Here's a prototype tailpiece the guys have taken to calling The Ghost (it apparently looks like a little spike-headed ghost when turned upside down). It's hand-crafted of beautiful flamed maple (which really pops under the glossy polyurethane on the wood) and the sides are coated with soft black enamel. The mounting holes (for a cord or wire) are countersunk for convenience, as are the string holes. (This piece is designed for the strings to be run through the top and out the bottom.)
Overall size is 2.29" long and 1.47" wide (at the longest and widest points, respectively) and .35" thick.
NOTES: This is a prototype tailpiece and is hand-crafted, which is to say that it is imperfect by nature. This isn't a collectible museum piece; it's simply a stylized wooden tailpiece to use on your period banjo. This is designed for use with nylon and gut strings. Metal strings absolutely should not be used. -$25.00
