Here's a prototype tailpiece that we crafted on the suggestion of a local banjo player who wanted something a little bit different. The tailpiece is in the shape of a poppy seedpod, with the string holes under the crown where the pod opens to release the seeds. The two holes in the "stem" are for mounting to your banjo with cord. One of two made, this one is constructed of flamed maple, the sides coated with a black enamel, and the top given a subtle shine/
Please keep in mind that not only is this a "test piece", it's also hand-crafted, which means that it is imperfect by nature. That being said, it's a one-of-a-kind piece that might look great on your period banjo. - $25.00
NOTE: This tailpiece is not intended for use with metal strings, which would undoubtedly make this wooden offering crumble. Only gut and nylon should be strung through this. The gentleman the original was crafted for has been using his for many months with Nylgut strings, in spite of the holes' close proximity to the edges of the tailpiece. Too much tension might have you experiencing different results.
